Grab your horse, or rather your smartphone, and download the Kilkenny App! Your guide to all things Kilkenny; from pubs that were serving pints when St Patrick was around, to underground lairs where leprechauns are rumoured to hide their pots o' gold.
The Kilkenny App is like a digital bard, singing tales of all events happening in Kilkenny City and County, be it Music, Arts, Theatre, Sports. It's essentially like having a tiny minstrel in your pocket, minus the lute and tights!
Kilkenny is not just a city in Ireland. Oh no! It's a medieval wonderland trapped in time, but with the modern benefits of running water and electricity. Nestled in the province of Leinster, it's a place where the River Nore seems to tell thousand-year-old tales, and the population of 26,512 are probably all part-time historians.
The city's tourist brochures read like the credits of a Hollywood medieval blockbuster: Kilkenny Castle, St Canice's Cathedral and round tower, Rothe House, Shee Alms House, Black Abbey... You get the idea. Kilkenny is like Disneyland for history buffs, minus the long queues and overpriced popcorn.

Kilkenny is also famous for its craft and design workshops (where you can learn to make your own chainmail, probably), the Watergate Theatre (no political scandal here, just good old-fashioned entertainment), and public gardens that are more lush than an Irish limerick.
Every year, Kilkenny also plays host to a variety of festivals. The Kilkenny Arts Festival, the Cat Laughs comedy festival (where the cats actually laugh, or so the legend says), and music at the Kilkenny Roots Festival. It’s a year-long party with an Irish medieval twist!
Kilkenny is an experience more than just a destination. From ancient monuments that outlive everyone’s gym memberships, to the thrilling adventure activities that will give you historical whiplash. It offers shopping experiences so rich, even King Henry VIII would have a hard time saying "No"!
