1.1.0 Patch (21 March 2025)

We are pleased to announce the release of the 1.1.0 (English) update for THE MANSION OF THE MACABRE. With this upgrade we have released a new version of the game engine, made significant graphical, performance and bug fixes, along with some minor content additions. More specifically;

Graphics

Restored missing normal maps for walls and objects that lacked depth, such as patterns on wallpapers

The Mansion's exterior model has now been completely redone and has much more charm and more graphically advanced than the original. This is even more evident when shown at the ending of the game in daylight.

The exterior wall of the grounds was untextured before, this has now been fixed. Improved the terrain and details when viewing the instant death when attempting to open the mansion front door.

Decals such as dust particles in the Attic and Cellar have been added

Lighting has been significantly improved and corrections made where shadows were rendered improperly

The lobby has been significantly improved with new lighting effects and models

Increased texture resolution for models throughout.

Bug Fixes

Some objects were difficult to push before or could not be pushed entirely. This has been fixed in the engine upgrade.

Fixed a bugged camera angle on the balcony showing geometry errors.

Fixed the map causing a crash when being viewed on the balcony. (Switch)

Fixed a assertion bug with the lantern that could cause a crash

Fixed bug with rain not being displayed properly.

Fixed a bug with the car at the ending scene being too small and clipping through the ground.

General

The game's engine has been upgraded both internally and also to Unity 6, improving performance significantly and fixing previously unadressable bugs.

Increased the range of the Revolver as it was too short before.

Both the Zombies and Zombie Chickens now have eyes that are more fitting to their character and glow in the dark

The scene being viewed from the window has been improved to be much more chilling (potential jumpscare warning!)

Increased the timeout for the Zombie to smash through the window and come through the trapdoor at the start.

This patch is for English language version only currently, other languages are still in testing and will be released as soon as possible.
1.0.5 Patch (15 October 2024)

This patch adds Italian and Spanish language support, and fixes some stuttering and minor performance issues.

Language

French language support re-added and improved.

Graphics

Fixed tree that was clipping through the wall outside the mansion.

Content

Restored and added sound effects when opening doors. Only certain doors would play the sound before and the majority could not be heard.

Restored trapdoor in the attic and zombie that enters if the storage box is not pushed on top of it in time

Added Achievement for blocking the trapdoor

Bug Fixes

Fixed Vagabond grab freezing in place glitch as this was not proper behaviour.

Fixed Knight attack damage not being in sync with animation

Fixed Jose' Gaspar (Pirate Ghoul) attack damage not being in sync with animation

Graphics

Fixed a bug with the Old Indian Rug not appearing at all over the painting when placed.

Fixed the sabres on the Crest not being lit properly, appearing black.

Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue where dialog and interaction prompts were no longer displayed due to a engine bug in the previous patch.

Fixed the 'Attic Camera' bug from appearing in other areas on the mansion. (Only new saves will this bugfix apply)

Fixed the buggy shadows of the Nightgaunts from appearing and not de-spawning as soon as they are defeated.

Fixed the de-spawn animation of the flying monsters not appearing and simply popping out when killed.

Fixed Nightgaunts / Harpies not able to damage player when nearby.

Fixed the Vagabond's damage box so he will no longer freeze in place with any weapon

General Improvements

Rats no longer bleed when shot at.

Re-adjusted range of pistol to be further.

Added TAB as an alternate key to open the Inventory which is easier for WSAD key players.

Removed note about the Deep Ones being invincible as they can now be killed.

Restored points of interest that were missing before.

The shattering glass effect is now much more visible and realistic.
1.0.2 Patch (4 October 2024)

Graphics

4K resolution option is now supported as an option in the settings menu.

The game will run by default at the native resolution of the monitor instead of 720p.

Switched to Borderless Fullscreen mode which takes advantage of Windows 11 fullscreen window optimization option

Improved lighting and reflections in the underground

Fixed doors not being lit properly according to the surroundings making it difficult to see them. Also restored sheen to the wood surfaces.

Restored reflective surfaces in the painting hallway

Fixed incorrect lighting on Horse Statue in Garden.

Fixed incorrect lighting on paintings.

Fixed the missing texture on the Wolf-Spider.

Fixed the Old Indian Cover texture not showing when covering the painting.

Fixed billboard outside mansion front door not being displayed

Fixed incorrect texture being displayed on grass when about to leave the mansion.

Fixed Spacefarer logo not fading in on start.

Restored Mothman graphic on Game Over, which did not appear properly before behind 'Fin'.

Graphics settings no longer reset when reloading the game.

Bug Fixes / General

Changed 'Deep One' behaviour so that they are no longer invincible and will now take damage.

Fixed the issue where props and bookcases in the library would disappear when loading a saved game.

Extended the range of the bullets of the pistol

Changed flying enemy behaviour to de-spawn properly when killed instead of being left 'stuck' in the air.

Fixed fireball spawn behaviour timing out too quickly causing a broken boss fight.

Enabled automatic sync of transforms to avoid buggy collisions.

Restored Ammo pickup and plant pickup in 2F room on desk.

Key to 2nd Floor can now be seen on the desk as it was invisible before.

Fixed Document UI getting cut off on Ultra-wide setups.

Fixed Storage Box UI getting cut off on Ultra-wide setups.

Fixed last jump towards boss being too difficult to pass.

Adjusted illumination zone of the Oil Lamp.

Fixed lamp still being active when thrown.

Fixed the daggers not working properly and causing glitches on enemies.

Fixed bug with Vagabond freezing in place when hit.

Fixed bug with Rats able to grab you which was incorrect behaviour.

Fixed bug with Spiders able to grab you which was incorrect behaviour.

Fixed Demon Rats being able to grab you which was incorrect behaviour.

The cigar smoke will no longer respawn when re-loading a save or re-entering the mansion.

The message displaying that the Zombies are eating the soup will no longer display when re-loading or re-entering the mansion after placing the soup on the table.

Fixed bug where boss battle music would play each time you enter the room even if he is defeated.

Restored crow on the outside balcony with was missing before.

Fixed a CPU spike issue caused by raycasting radius rounding errors.

Softlocks

Stopped the key being removed from the inventory when attempting to open the dresser if the inventory is full, preventing progress.

Fully resolved the game switching to the Attic camera angle preventing progression upon reload. This was due to a frame timing issue which was happening randomly.

New

New Deep One models and fixed AI behaviours.

New Zombie animations with fixed AI behaviours, and will no longer clip through the floor when pushed away.
1.0.1 Patch (23 September 2024)

This patch addresses crucial concerns and feedback from players since release. It greatly improves performance, graphics and fixes game breaking bugs. We recommend you install this patch prior to starting a new file. Existing saves are unaffected and will operate normally.

Graphical

We have improved the lighting and added ambient occlusion, along with more depth to the areas of the mansion.

We have fixed a bug where wall textures and certain object textures were not rendering properly and were very dark, making them appear as they were untextured.

We have added specular and highlight effects on metallic and shiny objects which was missing before.

We have fixed a rendering distance bug during the fight against the final boss due to a culling bug, making the back of the tree appear missing.

We have fixed the texturing of Crowley Manor on the ending scene which was too bright before.

We have fixed incorrect lighting on certain objects, making them stand out against the background too much.

We have fixed a bug where area geometry would corrupt or glitch out when opening the door to the cellar.

We have fixed the glass panes in the windows not rendering properly and appearing transparent.

Performance

The game has now been completely optimized and will no longer lag or drop frame rates which also affected the physics in the game, this was due to intense raycasting performed by the lighting which has now been addressed. We have additionally optimized the entire code so runtime performance is on par with the upcoming console releases.

The game is no longer capped at 60FPS and will attempt to run at your monitor's native refresh rate set in Windows Display Settings.

Softlocks

We have fixed a bug which would softlock the game showing the camera of the attic instead of where the player left off when loading a save or returning to the mansion from the underground, which would result in the inability to continue playing without starting over.

We have fixed a bug where randomly the boss would spawn the fireball and crash the game.

We have fixed a softlock that could occur when attempting to pick up the Mirrors from the drawer if the inventory was already full.

We have fixed a softlock that could occur if the barrels had not been moved in the cellar before trying to return from the underground, resulting in the player getting stuck.

We have fixed a softlock that could occur when attempting to pick up the sabre if the inventory is full.

We have fixed a softlock on the stairs after defeating the night gaunt which would block entry randomly.

General Bugs & Fixes

We have fixed a bug where pushing the cabinet in front of the window would not block the enemy from entering randomly.

We have fixed a bug with save files and the preview not updating properly to the selected file, making it appear as if the save wasn't successful.
