I've started PlanToCode project quite some time ago before major players delivered good tools for planning. I see that they improve their planning tools greatly almost every month. Cursor plan mode works too! - I've tested it recently. PlanToCode is multi-opinion (that can converge on same ideas) planning tool. I for myself use the PlanToCode explicitly right now, because, I guess, I just like it better - it's a matter of taste (and I trust it more, because I know exactly what PlanToCode does and which context it uses for planning and which system prompts - because accurate planning is truly mission critical, and also I would say PlanToCode has higher attention to details in planning).
The core idea is, as I call it, "Intelligence Driven Development" - to squeeze the most out of GPT-5.1, Gemini 3 Pro, and I notice that the best way to do that is to carefully craft system prompts and to run multiple planning passes (in parallel to save time) on the same previously prepared context (XML formatted sections with task description, files content, directory structure; + system prompt) with a simple UI. Then I compare the plans and add my own notes (merge instructions) and send it to a "chief architect" that rates and merges the best ideas from all the plans and take also the content of the files, that truly need to be adjusted based on the plans, into consideration instead of all candidate files that were scoped before planning (reduces the context a bit and makes it more focused) + my merge instructions and then it really gets great plan as the result of the merge and then I run it with Claude Code with multiple subagents (the prepared copy button template specifically instructs to read the prepared XML-formatted-plan and asks to understand the plan well and to spawn dedicated subagents and tell them exactly what to do). Then, in like 5 - 8 minutes, I can test really complex features, because all this preparation from before has had great attention to details and defined exactly what needs to be changed and 5-8 subagents running in parallel deliver really fast.
Also, all that I've described above is available via mobile app! I can plan in exact same manner on my iPhone and then actually run the Claude Code in terminal (I see terminal UI on my phone too) - it works with my PC directly without any "cloud container runners" - because I've setup my dev environment as I like and it is very convenient to come back later after being away from the desk and test immediately what was developed remotely - because everything is right there prepared already on my PC. This truly helps me, because work of a person utilizing the LLMs for software development is highly async - waiting frequently until planning or agent is done, and I can do a healthy activity, like go for a walk or hike, or to restaurant, and when my attention is needed after some time for a short period of time then I get a "healthy phone notification" that is related to my productive work, when let's say a plan is ready or the files context is prepared or Claude agent finished running, so that I can provide feedback with my voice (gpt-4o-transcribe) from the phone quickly (there is full blown editor there with undo/redo, voice input, text corrections, task refinements, with the copy buttons templates, etc. - so that I can work productively on the phone too).
So I guess, I just give it all to community as a product and see what people think about the tool, and based on feedback I can improve it even further, so that everyone is as productive as possible. (system prompts are visible and customizable, copy button templates too).
