Erceptio does not ask you to quickly click on cartoon birds or manipulate geometric shapes and call it brain training. Instead, you see video clips of real people and hear real conversations. Erceptio will ask about what you just saw or heard. Scholars debate whether or not brain training learnings are transferable. That is, if you get better at a brain training exercise, are you getting smarter or just better at that exercise? Whatever the answer, we believe training based on video and audio from everyday life is more likely to transfer to everyday life. We think this is the best kind of brain training. And occasionally, we’ll even ask you about birds flying across the screen!

Inspired by CIA observation skills training techniques, Erceptio was designed for security professionals. We’ll all benefit if the people paid to keep us secure sharpen their observation skills - and the rest of us do the same. Like boxing training for the person who will never get in the ring, Erceptio can be used by anyone to get in shape.
A body of university research supports the benefits of “training” your brain using visual- and auditory-based questions. Brain training programs similar to Erceptio claim that brain training can:

• have a positive impact on cognitive functioning and neuroplasticity
• help mitigate memory loss and poor concentration
• not only improve your ability to do the exercises, but help you remember, think and focus better in everything you do.
In other words, these exercises purport to lead to a brighter, sharper, faster brain.
People swear by brain training, awareness tests and observation skills courses. Every user of Erceptio will have their own experience, and we would like to know about yours. Do your perception skills improve the longer you use Erceptio? We think they will. Erceptio is, after all, the heart of perception. Take a look at our logo. “Erceptio” is preceded by a symbol that looks like the letter P, but is not. It's the shape of the shadow that would be cast if the P stood in the sunlight. From the shadow, your mind perceives the letter P. “Erceptio” is followed by a stylized letter N. The parallel lines in the N are themselves a perception test: the lines appear to be of different lengths, but their lengths are the same. This is an example of the Müller-Lyer illusion. Bookend Erceptio with the P and N and you get PERCEPTION.
