Die HerpetoMap ist eine Fachplattform zur Meldung von Amphibien- und Reptilien-Vorkommen in Niedersachsen. Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme als Melderin oder Melder ist der versierte Umgang in der Bestimmung der heimischen Amphibien- und Reptilienarten. Ein Zugang ist nur über die vorherige Kontaktaufnahme mit der Projektleitung möglich.
Die App steht nicht für sich allein, sondern dient als alternatives Werkzeug für die Datenerfassung vor allem im Gelände. Durch den vorherigen Download von Offline-Karten ist auch die Erfassung ohne Netzanbindung möglich. Die erfassten und im Mobilgerät gespeicherten Daten werden hochgeladen, sobald wieder ein Netz zur Verfügung steht. „HerpetoMap – die Fachplattform zur Meldung von Amphibien- und Reptilien-Vorkommen in Niedersachsen“ ist ein Projekt des NABU Landesverband Niedersachsen e.V., welches von Oktober 2019 bis Ende September 2022 von der Niedersächsischen Bingo Umweltstiftung gefördert wird. In diesem Zeitraum wird das Meldeportal HerpetoMap von der Projektleitung und der Software-Firma IP SYSCON entwickelt. Die akquirierten Melderinnen und Melder haben dabei durch Aufdecken von Fehlern und Verbesserungsvorschlägen die Möglichkeit selbst an der fortlaufenden Weiterentwicklung des Hauptportals und der App teilzuhaben.
Interessenten mit sehr guten Kennnissen in der Bestimmung von Amphibien und/oder Reptilien können sich per Mail bei der Projektleitung vorstellen.
