Sauerbruch Hutton is an international agency for architecture, urban planning and design that, founded in London in 1989, is now based in Berlin. The office realises individual and sustainable solutions for architectural projects, urban master plans, interiors, furniture and exhibitions. Pleasure in the sensual handling of space and material, curiosity for technical and spatial innovation as well as the responsible use of all kinds of existing resources constitute the focus of Sauerbruch Hutton’s architectural practice.
The exhibition at aut. documents a selection of their most important works, chosen to highlight common themes that weave through the various projects – including the creative exploration of the post-industrial city, in particular of its marginal territories; the development of integrated concepts for a more sustainable built environment; and the creation of sensual and surprising spaces that enrich the everyday life of its users. Due to the atmospheric density of the models in different scales and different materialities, the arrangement has the character of an expansive installation that allows different perspectives on the architectural work and can be associated with urban landscapes.
As a digital archive, this app enables the visitor to access extensive information such as photographs, drawings, texts and videos that offer further insight into the projects.
