Description
SI@unipv è un’applicazione per smartphone funzionante in iOS che, grazie a una rete di e-beacons (una classe di radiofari Bluetooth a basso consumo energetico che trasmettono il proprio identificatore a dispositivi elettronici portatili vicini) posizionati all’interno dei cortili del Palazzo Centrale dell’Università di Pavia, consente a studenti, ricercatori, dipendenti e visitatori non vedenti o ipovedenti di muoversi autonomamente in aree dove la connettività sia GPS che Wi-Fi è molto scarsa o assente a causa dei limiti strutturali e/o architettonici dell’antico edificio.
L’app SI@unipv è nata come progetto pilota, nelle sue funzionalità di base, nell’ambito di un precedente progetto di ricerca denominato BIDS-Building an Inclusive Digital Society, finanziato dall’Università di Pavia (nell’ambito del bando “Blue Sky Research”, 2017-2019). Quale risultato del progetto RISID (finanziato da Fondazione Cariplo), le funzionalità originarie dell’app sono state ulteriormente potenziate ed estese per venire incontro ai bisogni dei molteplici attori che utilizzano tecnologie digitali inclusive.
L’app SI@unipv è così divenuta uno strumento utile all’orientamento autonomo non solo per persone con disabilità visiva, ma anche per persone con altri tipi di disabilità. SI@unipv risponde pienamente ai criteri di accessibilità digitale, essendo stata sviluppata da esperti di accessibilità. L’applicazione consente inoltre di selezionare i percorsi accessibili in carrozzina e fornisce informazioni sull’accessibilità di aule e altri punti di interesse dell’Università, permettendo in caso di bisogno un contatto telefonico diretto con il servizio di assistenza preposto dall’Ateneo (SAISD).
SI@unipv è quindi uno strumento di interesse generale per l’intera comunità, accademica e non, perché non solo garantisce un aiuto all’orientamento all’interno del Palazzo Centrale dell’Università, ma permette di avere informazioni aggiornate sui servizi e gli eventi di Ateneo.
Inoltre, per il visitatore occasionale o lo studente curioso, l’applicazione offre anche percorsi turistici tematici all’interno dello stesso Palazzo Centrale.
