Description
Desde siempre los cristianos han preparado la celebración de la Inmaculada (8 de diciembre) con especial cariño. En muchas catedrales se celebra con gran solemnidad la Vigilia de la Inmaculada, y en muchas ciudades se celebran Misas en honor a la Virgen.
San Josemaría aconsejaba que cada uno viviera estos nueve días de preparación personalmente, del modo que considere más oportuno; poniendo, desde luego, más empeño en la conversación asidua con la Virgen, con más esfuerzo en la oración, la mortificación, el trabajo profesional; y procurando que los parientes, amigos y conocidos —cuantos más, mejor— se acerquen a Jesucristo por medio de nuestra Madre. Su amor a la Virgen ha contribuido a hacer de la Novena una costumbre universal. Para ayudar a hacer realidad estos deseos y facilitar que cada uno pueda comunicar esta ilusión a sus amigos, en muchos lugares se organizan Novenas públicas.
Junto a ese vínculo íntimo de cada uno con su Madre, María también crea una relación especial entre sus hijos: reúne en torno a sí a la familia. Es una ocasión de ofrecer a la Virgen el testimonio de nuestro cariño, de ayudarnos unos a otros con el ejemplo para mejorar nuestra vida cristiana, y de arropar a quienes se acercan -quizá por primera vez- a nuestra Madre.
