Code review, at a glance.

GitLight puts a tiny traffic light in your Mac's menu bar that tells you exactly where your GitLab merge requests stand. No more refreshing the MR list. No more "did anyone look at this yet?" If you use GitLab, it's a must-install.

One look, and you know what needs you.

THREE LIGHTS. ZERO NOISE.
RED – Review requested. A teammate is waiting on you. You're a reviewer and haven't reviewed or approved it yet.
YELLOW – Reviewed. Feedback landed on your MR: changes requested or comments. Go see what they said.
GREEN – Approved. Your MR is approved with nothing left to fix. Hit merge.

Every MR gets exactly one light. Your own MRs stay dark until someone actually reviews them, and anything quiet for 30 days drops off, so the lights only move when something real happens.

NEVER MISS A HANDOFF
GitLight checks GitLab every 30 seconds and sends a notification for each MR that changes light. Three MRs change, three notifications. Click one and the MR opens in your browser.

ONE CLICK TO THE MR
Open the menu to see every MR grouped by light. Click a title to jump straight to it.

STAYS OUT OF YOUR WAY
• Lives in the menu bar. No Dock icon, no windows.
• Refreshes on its own and right after your Mac wakes. Press Command-R if you can't wait.
• Offline? It keeps the last known counts and shows a small warning sign until you're back.
• Optional Launch at Startup, so the lights are on before your first coffee.

GITLAB.COM OR YOUR OWN
Works with gitlab.com and self-managed GitLab. Sign-ins are kept per host, so switching between instances is painless.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• You sign in on GitLab's own page in your browser (OAuth with PKCE). GitLight never sees your password.
• Read-only "read_api" access. GitLight can look, but never touch.
• Tokens live in your macOS Keychain and refresh automatically.
• Talks only to your GitLab server. No accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, no tracking.

GETTING STARTED
1. In GitLab, open User Settings → Applications and add an application:
– Redirect URI: gitlight://oauth
– Confidential: unchecked
– Scope: read_api
2. In GitLight, open Settings… and paste the Application ID. On self-managed GitLab, also enter your GitLab Host.
3. Click Connect and approve access in your browser.

Allow notifications when GitLight asks, and the lights come on within seconds.

• macOS 13 Ventura or later
• gitlab.com, or a self-managed GitLab recent enough to support merge request review states
