Description
is a lightweight IDE for developers. The primary usage of SwitchV is to use the shortcut (⌃+⌘+R) or click the SwitchV icon on the menu bar to launch it quickly,
then select a target folder or VS Code workspace file from the list to open it as a VS Code window, and this will work even
if VS Code is not launched first. The shown selection list has two sources. The first part shown as the upper black items are the latest used VS Code windows opened by either SwitchV or VS Code itself,
and the second part shown as the green items are the first level subfolders and VS Code workspace file lists by searching your favorite working folder if you have ever set up.
Besides the requirement of VS Code installation, you need to install two extra things to achieve the SwitchV's capability to open VS Code windows.
1. VS Code extension https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=grimmer.SwitchV. It will send the path information of the opened folder or VS Code workspace to this SwitchV app whenever you open or switches a VS Code window. Then SwitchV would store this information and show it in the selection list.
2. VS Code 'code' command in PATH. Please follow https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/mac#_launching-from-the-command-line to install it to allow other programs to open VS Code windows.
Features and usages:
1. Spotlight-like quick open: use Control+Command+R (⌃+⌘+R) or menu bar icon. Query and select an item to open it as VS Code window if it is not opened as a VS Code window yet, or to switch to that window as a foreground VS Code window if it is opened as a VS Code background window.
2. Selection list supports folder and VS Code workspace file.
3. Selection list includes the latest used VS Code windows. You can even move your cursor to the right side of an item to click "x" to remove this record.
4. (optional) Scan the favorite working folder to add the items as the second part of the selection list. Click the meatballs (three dots) menu button, and click "Select" to set up.
5. Three ways to quit SwitchV and stop it from running in the background. a. open SwitchV, and click the quit button in the meatballs menu b. right click the SwichV menu icon and click Quick SwitchV c. open SwitchV and trigger Cmd+Q.
