Enter Thera, a dark, fantasy land roiled by eternal wars among mortal factions and gods alike. No one is ever truly safe from monsters, fellow adventurers, or the inexorable ravages of time.
Make your mark on Thera using your wits, your weapons, diverse schools of magic, or by drawing power from the gods themselves. Write a story for your character and give them life in a vast world over 30 years in the making, filled to the brim with secrets and mysteries that you can uncover and use to your advantage.
Carrion Fields is completely freeand run by a staff of dedicated volunteer "Immortals," who act as Game Masters and roleplay as the world's gods. Overhead is covered by dedicated players' donations. No pay-to-play. No paying for in-game perks or cosmetic items. We don't care how much money you have - just how fast you can think and how good your story is.
- Our world is always growing. Carrion Fields boasts hundreds of PvE quests, puzzles, raids, dungeons, and other areas, with more always in the works.
- Carrion Fields features a nuanced and strategic PvP system, including "cabal" factions' never-ending battles for power.
- Players can choose from 21 races, 17 classes, 7 player-run cabals, and numerous unique customization options and opportunities that ensure no two characters need ever be alike.
- Necromancers can become undead creatures of great power: Liches, Vampyres, Wights or Mummies. Shapeshifters can learn to transform into powerful or even mythical beasts. Warriors can gain fearsome skills by specializing in weapons and learn incredible abilities from warrior-monks. Thieves can learn to mix poisonous brews and set traps. Rangers can gain mastery over specific terrains, use archery or travel with beast companions. And much more!
- Compete with other players to discover or plunder powerful limited and legendary items.
- No matter how much power you amass, no one survives Thera. Characters can last for hundreds of hours of gameplay, but all are doomed to die of old age - if they survive that long.
- Role-play is required and enforced in Carrion Fields. Everyone you meet in Thera is fighting their own battle, writing their own story, and hoping, just as you are, to come out on top.

Is Carrion Fields really free?
Yes. COMPLETELY free. There is no pay-to-play, there is no pay-to-win. You can't buy any in-game benefits. Your success is left up to your skill and dedication.
Roleplay
Carrion Fields has enforced roleplay. Meaning you play as your character, not yourself. You may be a righteous paladin annihilating wicked souls from the world, or a sly thief attempting to fence stolen goods - but no matter what you will always be in-character. Carrion Fields aims for an immersive experience that includes PvP (player vs. player) and PvE (player vs. environment) while expecting valid roleplay at all times.
PvP
Want to try your hand at a complex and competitive system? Carrion Fields offers a system of PvP that feels like it is a natural extension of its fantasy world. There are no true safe areas, nobody is completely immune to violence. You might try to stay safe within your class's guildhall, but what if your foe is strong enough to murder the well-trained guild guard?
PvE
The world in Carrion Fields is vast. You might sit in a tavern and drink, discussing stories and tales with your compatriots. You also might leave the safety of the populated cities and venture into vast subterranean caverns filled with unknown danger, or explore lost vaults with puzzling magic, or try your hand at facing the ancient dragons which defend their lairs with awe-inspiring power.
In Carrion Fields grouping up is not unusual, as sometimes it is the only way to survive in dangerous areas.
