Description

AI Session Usage
This widget needs Claude Code or the Codex CLI installed and signed in on this PC: it shows the subscription usage limits those tools report, and nothing else. It is not an official Anthropic or OpenAI product.

AI Session Usage puts your Claude Code and ChatGPT (Codex) subscription limits on the Windows 11 Widgets Board: for each limit, the percentage used, a bar, and when it resets ("2h 13m"; the large widget adds the clock time, "2h 13m · 14:13"). Claude's session, weekly and per-model caps and ChatGPT's windows appear as the services report them. A tool you are not signed in to is simply left out, so one of the two is enough.

How it gets the numbers: it asks each command-line tool for its own usage, the way their editor extensions do. Claude Code is run once per refresh, headless and with no prompt; Codex is asked over its app-server protocol. The widget opens no connection of its own, reads no login file, and a refresh spends none of the limits it shows. The numbers refresh every five minutes while the widget is shown, and when you click it.

Bars turn orange at 80 percent and red at 95 percent; numbers older than 15 minutes are marked outdated. The small widget shows one row per service, the medium two, the large all of them with their reset times.

Known limitations: both tools are asked over requests their makers mark experimental, so a change on their side shows "Unexpected answer" until the widget is updated; subscription logins only (an API key has no subscription limits); no settings yet (both services on, Claude Code asked directly); the interface is in English only.

The same widget exists for KDE Plasma 6 and as a Rainmeter skin; the source code and the full README are on GitHub under chaybits/ai-session-usage (GPL-3.0-or-later).
