Description
Scan. Devlicate detects what's installed: the .NET SDK and .NET Framework, Visual Studio (including every workload, individual component, and extension, across multiple side-by-side editions), VS Code and its extensions, Git, Node.js, Python, Docker, WSL, PowerShell 7, Azure CLI, GitHub CLI, Claude Code, winget, Chocolatey, and SQL Server tools. When a newer .NET release is available online, Devlicate flags it and can install it on the spot.
Export. Turn a scan into a portable manifest file. The manifest never contains secret values unless you explicitly tick a category (SSH keys, git credentials, cloud CLI tokens, secret environment variables) and supply a passphrase — those go into a separate encrypted file instead. Narrow what's captured down to exactly the SDK versions, workloads, components, or extensions you want to carry forward, or exclude a whole tool from the export entirely.
Rebuild. Load a manifest on another machine, and Devlicate compares it against what's already there and builds a reviewable, step-by-step plan — nothing runs until you say so, and you can deselect individual steps first. Running the plan installs missing tools through winget or Chocolatey (installing either of those first if the new machine needs them), imports Visual Studio workload/component configuration through the Installer's own configuration file, restores git and NuGet configuration and environment variables, installs editor extensions, and restores any secrets you chose to export.
Devlicate never phones home. Scanning and exporting always work, even before you buy — evaluating the tool doesn't require purchasing it; only running an actual rebuild does.
