GEDCOM Validator
GEDCOM Validator is an advanced set of tools for checking GEDCOM files for issues which could lead to data loss when transferring files between different genealogy applications. GEDCOM Validator requires .NET 10 Desktop Runtime.

Why is it needed?
Almost every genealogy application in use today 'supports' GEDCOM but often there are often important differences in the way each creates GEDCOM files. This leads to a whole range of compatibility issues when other applications try to interpret another application's GEDCOM files. Some of these issues are due to the inconsistencies and errors in the GEDCOM specifications. This means it is more important than ever for developers and users to be able to check GEDCOM files follow best practice. With GEDCOM Validator, you can check your files for problems and get in depth help on fixing any issues reported. Whether you are developing applications to read or write GEDCOM files or diagnosing a problem with a GEDCOM file, GEDCOM Validator can help.

Who is it for?
GEDCOM Validator is designed principally for developers and advanced users who are familiar with the Genealogical Data Communication (GEDCOM) standards and are trying to diagnose issues with transferring data between genealogy applications. You will need to be competent in interpreting diagnostic reports and technical specifications to make any use of the application.

What is it not?
Occasionally, users install GEDCOM Validator hoping to edit, display, or print the genealogical data contained within a GEDCOM file. You will need to use a genealogy application for that.

This application is not supported on Windows in S mode.
