Description

MDLite is a modern, lightweight successor to the classic Notepad++ workflow. It starts fast and stays small: Preview and Terminal are loaded only when you open them.

• Editor: fast Scintilla editing with syntax highlighting for common languages, tabs, find and replace with regular expressions, and safe saving that keeps your encoding and line endings.
• Preview: Markdown with tables, code highlighting, Mermaid and PlantUML diagrams and KaTeX math, plus JSON, CSV, OpenAPI (Swagger UI), PDF and images. Everything renders offline.
• Terminal: an integrated PowerShell or Command Prompt next to your files.
• Workspace: open a folder in the Explorer, with Quick Open (Ctrl+P) and a Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P).
• Hot exit: unsaved changes and open tabs come back the next time you start MDLite.
• Warm Dark and Light themes with a clean, compact layout.

• Split editor: Ctrl+\ shows a file side by side; move tabs between the two groups and both come back after a restart.
• Copy and paste in the Terminal: Ctrl+C copies a selection (otherwise stops the command), Ctrl+V pastes, right-click copies or pastes. Toggle Terminal is now Ctrl+Shift+T.
• Preview follows the language you pick, even in an unsaved tab (Markdown, HTML, JSON, YAML, XML, SVG).
• Snap Layouts on the maximize button; Explorer and Terminal buttons on the left bar, Preview button next to the tabs.
• Reset Settings in Settings and the Command Palette; a fuller About box.
• Safer saving: read-only or locked files are reported instead of overwritten, and restored edits never overwrite a file changed while MDLite was closed.
• Large JSON files in Preview use far less memory; better screen reader support; the taskbar icon no longer sits on a blue square on a light taskbar.
