Description

UARTist
New  UARTist is a serial console for working with devices over a serial port, such as development boards connected through a USB-serial adapter.

Choose a COM port and the serial settings (baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, flow control), then connect. The terminal shows the device's output and sends what you type. Several ports can be open at the same time, each in its own tab.

Views
- Terminal: an interactive console with the device.
- Log: every received line with its local time and the time elapsed since the session started, with optional line numbers.
- Hex: every byte sent and received, grouped into frames, shown as hex and ASCII with timestamps and the milliseconds between a command and its reply.

Working with output
- Search with match-case and regular-expression options.
- Filter tabs that keep the lines matching a pattern as they arrive, which can be saved to a text file.
- Recording of each session to a local folder, with automatic cleanup of old recordings.

Sending
- A send bar for a line of text or hex bytes, with a selectable line ending (CR, LF or CR+LF) and optional local echo.
- Command sets: saved text and hex commands shown as buttons, which can be imported and exported as JSON.

Connection
- The session reconnects when the adapter is unplugged and plugged back in.
- A built-in demo device for trying the app without hardware.

Sharing with AI tools
- A tab can be shared with AI tools on the same computer (such as Claude Desktop or Claude Code) through the Model Context Protocol: they read the device's output and, only if you allow it, type into it. Sharing is off by default, local to your computer, and you see everything the AI sends.

Light and dark themes are available, and the text size can be adjusted. UARTist works offline: it has no account, no advertising and no analytics, and the data it keeps stays on your computer.
