Beskrivelse
Thousands of words and phrases are available, based on the Chinese government’s official HSK programme for the teaching and assessment of non-native speakers’ fluency in Mandarin. 5 different levels of words are available, starting from Mandarin’s core words and continuing to level 3 (there are over 5,000 words by the end of this level).
You decide exactly what information about each word you see when the word is first downloaded. For example, you can decide to show the English word and definition first (and then click to reveal the Mandarin). Adjust these settings to match your own learning style and requirements.
In fact you get 8 separate bits of information about each word, and you can choose to see any combination of them when the word is first downloaded:
- The word itself in Pinyin, as a simplified character, and in English
- A long definition of the word with alternative translations
- A phrase containing the word in Pinyin, simplified characters and in English
- A full breakdown of all the words used in the phrase
In addition, you get audio clips for the word and phrase in Mandarin.
Each phrase only uses other words at the same level or lower, so you’ll always be using words that you’ve already learnt or are learning. The words are selected at random. You can choose to get your words from a selected level, or from all your available levels.
You can also scroll through other phrases which contain the selected word.
You will need an internet connection. Your audio clips are downloaded to your local drive for faster access if you get the same word or phrase again.
