Intego Virus-Barrier Scanner can scan and remove Mac and Windows malware with a single click. VirusBarrier Scanner will detect any infected files which you might have downloaded or gotten in your inbox. This way your Mac is always kept safe and you won’t put your friends and family at risk of being infected with malicious files.
Made by the Mac security experts at Intego, VirusBarrier Scanner is a free anti-virus and malware removal tool for iMac, MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac Pro. Choose between ‘Maximum Protection’ to easily scan all files which belong to you, or ‘Essential Protection’ to scan locations where malware is commonly found. On-demand manual scanning of individual files or specific locations such as your own Documents or Downloads folders can also be done with ease.
Features:
• Detects OS X, macOS and Windows malware to prevent your Mac from acting as a carrier
• Automatic virus definition updates prior to scans
• Scans for malware automatically or on-demand in all available locations
• Critical locations scan – rapidly scans system areas that are prone to infections
• Scans for viruses in emails for popular clients
• Quarantine or delete dangerous files
• Option to trust files or folders which will be excluded from scan (i.e. Time Machine backups, etc.)
• Easy to use interface with quick drag-and-drop option
Constraints:
• Due to Mac App Store sandboxing, VirusBarrier Scanner can only access the locations to which it is explicitly granted access to. For maximum protection, we recommend granting access to the entire disk.
• Malware removal may be limited by permissions for the user running the app.
