The enemies are varied and require different tactics to deal with. The encounters, quests, loots, battlefields, dungeons are all random. The settlements prosper, live on, or decline, and your actions have an effect on them directly or indirectly.
You will fight your way through your own emergent story, and gain experience, gold and fame, while you discover the ancient evils that threaten the island.

16 general Skills like wilderness survival, two-handed, speechcraft etc.
Full freedom in character development. Every character can use and upgrade every talent stone and every skill.
Procedurally generated equipment with prefix and suffixes. There are also hand crafted unique items.
A main quest chain with a big boss at the end. There are also quests you can take from taverns, Adventurer's Guild and Artisan's Keep.
Not just dungeon crawling but also wilderness crawling.
Lots of overworld incidents that makes wandering the world fun.
