Players take control of a ninja, battling enemy ninjas in procedurally generated levels. Each playthrough features random maps and enemy setups. If the ninja is defeated, players must restart the run, and unlock permanent upgrades as they progress.
Combat Controls
1. Basic Controls: Move nimbly to avoid attacks from enemy ninjas, and fight entirely using ranged and area-of-effect weapons.
2. Ranged Attack: Use shurikens, the basic ranged weapon, to throw accurately and take down distant enemies.
3. Area-of-Effect Attack: Throw bombs to deal group damage to enemies within a certain range, ideal for breaking out of encirclements.
Skill Upgrades (Roguelike Core)
1. In-Run Upgrades: Defeat enemies to collect upgrade items, which can enhance shurikens (attack speed, damage, penetration) and bombs (blast radius, power, detonation speed).
2. Unlockable Skills: Unlock extra ninja abilities such as invisibility and teleportation, which appear randomly for selection during each run.
Win and Lose Rules
1. Victory: Clear all enemy ninjas in the current level to proceed to the next random level, and advance until defeating the final boss.
2. Defeat: The run fails if the ninja runs out of health. All in-run upgrades are reset, but permanent progression stats are retained for a new playthrough.
