EGK PenangFerry Route
EGK PenangFerry is a modern Android app designed for commuters and travelers using the Penang Ferry service between Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim (Butterworth) and Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (George Town). The app simplifies ferry planning by showing the next available departure time based on the selected origin and the current date on the device.
EGK PenangFerry automatically determines whether the day is a weekday (Monday–Friday) or weekend (Saturday–Sunday) using the device’s system date, then applies the correct ferry schedule without any manual selection. This ensures accurate and hassle-free results for daily commuters, tourists, and anyone crossing the Penang Strait.
The interface is simple and user-friendly: select Penang or Butterworth, tap “Get Next Ferry”, and instantly view the next departure slot. On weekdays, Butterworth services operate from 06:30 to 23:00 and Penang from 07:00 to 23:30, with intervals ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. On weekends, both routes operate until 23:30 with consistent 30-minute intervals.
The app compares the current time with predefined schedules and automatically rolls over to the next day’s first departure if no ferries remain. Schedules are stored locally for speed and reliability, based on publicly available information from Penang Port.
A built-in “Buy Ticket” button links directly to the official ferry ticketing website, allowing users to purchase tickets after checking departure times. EGK PenangFerry is lightweight, ad-free, and does not collect personal data, ensuring a fast and privacy-friendly experience.
