คำอธิบาย
Das Gesundheitswesen in Deutschland befindet sich im Wandel und steht vor großen Herausforderungen, nicht zuletzt aufgrund des Fachkräftemangels in den medizinischen und pflegerischen Berufen.
Die Ärztinnen und Ärzte benötigen eine Entlastung bei Routinearbeiten, medizinisch und bürokratisch. Der Physician Assistant (Arztassistentin/Arztassistent), als Bindeglied zwischen Ärzten und Pflegepersonal sowie Patientinnen und Patienten. Er leistet wertvolle Mitarbeit, die gute medizinische Patientenversorgung aufrechtzuerhalten und das ärztliche Personal bei Routineaufgaben zu unterstützen. Er verschafft ihnen mehr Freiräume für ihre vorrangigen Tätigkeiten, gleichzeitig kann durch sein Mitwirken die Effizienz der Prozesse in Krankenhäusern gesteigert sowie ein wichtiger Beitrag im Rahmen der Qualitätssicherung verrichtet werden
Physician Assistant ist die einzige Fachzeitschrift im deutschsprachigen Raum zum Thema Arztassistenz. Sie vermittelt medizinische Kompetenzen der unterschiedlichen Fachdisziplinen im Bereich der medizinischen Akut- und Rehabilitationsversorgung. Beiträge zu den delegierbaren Heilbehandlungsleistungen gehören ebenso dazu wie Organisation, Administration und Dokumentation:

Das Fortbildungsmagazin versteht sich als Forum für angehende und bereits tätige Physician Assistants. Es wendet sich aber auch an alle, die an weiterführenden Informationen rund um die verantwortungsvolle Tätigkeit in der Patientenversorgung interessiert sind. Während der Physician Assistant in Deutschland noch zu den jungen Gesundheitsberufen zählt, ist er in vielen Ländern wie z.B. den USA, Großbritannien und den Niederlanden bereits seit langem unerlässlicher Bestandteil des Gesundheitssystems.
Herausgegeben wird das Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildungsmagazin von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Physician Assistants e. V. (DGPA).
Physician Assistants arbeiten in Krankenhäusern, Polikliniken, Tageskliniken, Rehabilitationskliniken, Ärztehäusern, Arztpraxen, Medizinischen Versorgungszentren. Ihre Einsatzfelder finden sich sowohl in der ambulanten als auch in der stationären Versorgung, z.B. in den Notaufnahmen, den Abteilungen Chirurgie, Innere Medizin, Anästhesie, Intensivmedizin, Kardiologie, Diabetologie, Angiologie, Neurologie.
