ChronoFix
ChronoFix is a powerful, native macOS application designed to help you manage the timestamps of your photos, videos, and any other files with precision and ease. Whether you need to fix photo and video dates, correct a camera clock that was set to the wrong time or timezone, give scanned photos a meaningful order, or batch-rename thousands of files by date, ChronoFix provides an intuitive interface with a live preview of every change.

FIVE POWERFUL MODES

• Offset Mode: Add or subtract time from existing timestamps. Perfect for correcting camera clock errors while preserving the relative timing between files.
• Fixed Mode: Set all selected files to the exact same date and time — or sequence them with a step (say, +30 seconds per file) or an even spread between two dates, so scans and recovered files stay sortable.
• Copy Mode: Copy one timestamp to the others — restore file dates from the embedded metadata (EXIF for photos, the creation date for videos), or extract dates straight from filenames.
• Rename Mode: Rename files based on their timestamps using flexible format patterns. Use tokens like {YYYY}, {MM}, {DD}, {hh}, {mm}, {ss}, {counter}, {camera}, and {original}, or pick a preset (ISO, US, EU, and more).
• Timezone Mode: Camera still on home time while you traveled? Pick the timezone the camera was set to and the one you were actually in — every timestamp shifts by the right amount, computed per file with daylight saving handled correctly.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

• Photos: dates read and written via EXIF — JPEG, HEIC, PNG, TIFF, and RAW formats
• Videos: dates read and written via the embedded creation date — MOV, MP4, and M4V
• Lossless both ways: image pixels and video streams are never re-encoded, only the metadata changes
• Complete EXIF writes: timezone offset tags, XMP dates, and existing GPS/IPTC date stamps stay in sync
• Update file creation and modification dates alongside the embedded metadata, with granular control

SAFE BY DESIGN

• Real-time preview: see the original and new timestamps side by side before you commit — changes are highlighted so nothing is a surprise
• One-click revert: restore the original timestamps right after applying — including the embedded photo and video dates

    • New Preferences window (⌘,): choose your startup mode, default checkboxes and rename pattern, and edit the format presets shown in the Copy and Rename panels
    • Renames can now be reverted, right from the completion dialog
    • Restore any earlier operation from the History window — file dates and renames alike
    • Rename by filename: read the date out of badly named files and write it back in the format you want
    • ChronoFix now remembers the folders you grant access to — no more repeated permission prompts when renaming
    • RAW photos and not-yet-downloaded iCloud files are reported as skipped instead of failing the whole batch
    • Faster everywhere: reverts run in parallel, huge file lists scroll and filter smoothly, and long video writes show live progress
    • Safer too: reverts restore the original timezone tags, files changed outside ChronoFix are never overwritten, and temporary files stay on the same disk as your files
